The UK has so far had a glorious summer. The last few weeks have been filled with hours of sunshine with not a raindrop in sight. So with yet another day of 28 degree weather forecasted, we loaded up our car yesterday morning and drove down to Southbourne Beach near Bournemouth. It seems as though we weren’t the only ones with that plan. But all the traffic jams were worth it because this beach is spectacular. It was really busy with loads of couples, families and kids, but I honestly didn’t mind. Who wouldn’t want to be outside on such a glorious summer day?
We rented out a couple of deck chairs and an umbrella and sat on the beach for hours. It was pure bliss and as someone who grew up next to the sea, I loved every second. I was also excited because I was wearing my brand new Hunkemoller swimsuit for the first time. Their team very kindly asked me to review one of their swimsuits, so I’d like to give you my thoughts on how I found it after wearing it pretty much the whole day! As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. 🙂
When it comes to swimwear, I am definitely a one-piece girl. I do own a couple of bikinis but I have always felt rather self-conscious in them. It’s something I’m trying to get over. In the meantime though, one piece swimsuits are my best option.
The one I ended up picking out is called the Lush Botanical Ocean Swimsuit. I love all things colourful, so this print is right up my street. I got mine in a size ten, and although it retails for £48.00, it’s currently on sale for £37.50.
Besides the design, the two main things I want in a swimsuit are padded cups and a flattering fit. This swimsuit ticks both those boxes – and how!
Let’s start with the padded cups. I’m not particularly large chested but I’m not too small either. I don’t want padding because I want my boobs to look bigger – I just like that they help to create a nice shape and silhouette. (The padding is removable though, which is good if you’d rather do without it.) It feels incredibly comfortable – much more comfortable than some of my bras even. I was a little worried that it might feel restrictive, but it didn’t at all.
Another little bonus is that the straps are adjustable – so even if it’s not a perfect fit right out of the box, you can make it one.
The best thing about this swimsuit, however, is the ‘figure control’ aspect in the tummy region. Of course, a busy pattern always conceals problem areas, but here you’ve also got the slimming faux silhouette going on. What you can’t see, though, is that the swimsuit has two layers of material. The inner layer holds everything in, while the outer one is ruched, which makes it even more flattering.
I had a VERY large lunch right before these photos were taken, and I was blown away by the fact that you can’t really tell. 😉
This is without a doubt, my favourite swimwear piece of all time. It’s high quality in terms of design and material, was a joy to wear, and it made me feel incredibly comfortable and confident. I highly recommend it. 🙂
Have you ever tried any swimwear from Hunkemoller? And what kind of swimwear do you usually prefer? Let me know in the comments! Hope you’re all having a great summer, wherever you are. 🙂
