There used to be a time when I favoured chunky jewellery. Statement necklaces, beaded bracelets and dangling earrings were my jam. I probably used up half my baggage allowance anytime I flew somewhere on my accessories alone. But, as with most things, my tastes and preferences have evolved and changed over time. My jewellery over the last few years has been distinctly dainty. And as someone who has been firmly in the silver camp her whole life, I find myself reaching for a lot more gold these days and I don’t mind one bit.
I think there’s two main reasons for this. The first is the obvious one – delicate gold jewellery has experience somewhat of a renaissance lately. Heck, gold has experienced a renaissance lately. Whether that’s in jewellery, home decor or just general design trends. The second reason has to do with versatility.
Don’t get me wrong – chunky necklaces are great and there will always be a special place in my heart for them. But you need to put a lot more thought into what you’re pairing them with. With the more delicate gold pieces, I’m able to mix and match. Layered necklaces, stacked rings, watches and bracelets – the possibilities are endless and I love all of them.
Gold jewellery is so much easier to style.
What I’m loving
My current jewellery collection is made up of a mix of real gold and things I’ve picked up from the high street. A lot of retailers including ASOS, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins have a a good selection of necklaces, bracelets and rings in a variety of finishes and styles. They are often available in multipack, which makes it easier to layer and mix up.
The watch I’m wearing is on offer at the moment (yay!) But because a lot of these aren’t available anymore, I’m going to try and link to similar pieces I have found online below.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this! What kind of jewellery do you like to wear? Let me know in the comments!
