I hope you had a great Christmas! I’m off to Austria tomorrow for a week long holiday, so I thought it would be a good idea to show you what I’m taking with me on my carry-on bag. I know it’s not the most original idea, but I always enjoy having a nosy at other blog posts/videos so why not do my own?
Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray
I remember watching one of my cousins spritzing on Evian when I was younger, and wondering if I’d ever be as cool as she was. But despite this, I only started using one earlier this year, and now I always carry it with me. Avene is the only one I’ve tried so far, and I love it. It’s so refreshing, and if you’re ever feeling a bit lackluster or tired, all you need are a couple of quick spritzes. And while this naturally lends itself to being a summer product, it’s fantastic in the winter too because it really wakes up your skin. It’s hydrating, dries quickly so you can wear it over makeup or or simply on bare skin. My skin gets incredibly dry on flights, so if I’ve got this and a good moisturiser, I’m a happy bunny.
Vaseline lip balm + lipstick + blush
I wear minimal makeup on a flight, but I’m never without my lip products! I always carry one colourless lip balm and one lipstick. The one featured in the photo here is a vaseline lip balm pot, and it’s got a bit of a rosy tint to it. I’ve also got my beloved Chanel lipstick which I featured in my 4 lipsticks for Christmas blog post. Since it’s such a bold colour, what I tend to do it wear it almost like a stain. And I always have some kind of blush with me, to use if I’m feeling a little pale and sleep deprived. So I’ve got a bit of colour and feel put together, but my makeup isn’t too in your face (especially since my flight is first thing in the morning!)
Warm clothes + accessories
I get very cold on flights (or anywhere, really). So I’m always prepared with at least one scarf, and a bobble hat. My flight is only an hour long, but it’s good to have this in your carry-on within easy reach for when you get off the plane. The last thing you want to do is unlock and open up your check-in bags in a new airport at the end of a flight!
Perfume of choice
Despite doing the customary walk through duty free, spritzing on every perfume I can when the sales people aren’t looking (please tell me I’m not the only one who does this!), I still like to carry a bottle of perfume with me. Since this is a week long trip, I’m only taking two bottles. Gucci Bamboo, which is one of my newest favourites. It’s light and perfect for day time. For something a little strong, I’ve got YSL Opium. It’s a sexy, sophisticated scent and all kinds of perfect for when it’s cold, dark and wintery.
This pair of Sony wireless headphones is my favourite tech purchase this year. They’re incredibly comfortable on the ears, and the lack of wires means I don’t accidentally get them caught everywhere. Which is incredibly important when you’re carrying things so many important things all at once at the airport.
And that’s pretty much it! The only things I haven’t mentioned here is moisturiser, a pair of socks and a spare set of clothes just in case. Like I said, nothing revolutionary here, but I hope you liked reading this, and perhaps even found it useful!
I’d love to know what your essentials are. Maybe they’ll help me for the journey back. 😉
